The vision for this group began in April of 2014 when I attended the VRMA (Vacation Rental Managers Association) annual conference in Florida. You know how these things can go but I was new to the industry, feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed, trying to soak it all in. My very first break out session was a panel of individuals from various cities in Florida talking about the states attempts to shut down short term rentals. It certainly got my wheels spinning and added to some angst I had with a recent citation we received from the city of Charleston for “illegal use of property” (of which we thought we were totally legit). We needed a voice and some change to Charleston’s short term ordinances. So here we are.
